Saving The Sullivans: Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown provides update

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Paul Marzello, and other city and federal officials provided a Day 3 update Saturday on The Sullivans at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park.
An unknown event caused it to start sinking on Wednesday night.
The entire country has been following the headlines on the decommissioned destroyer out of the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park.
The biggest thing is that the ship is no longer moving, and it is stable. That's according to U.S. Coast Guard commander Bill McKinstry, who says it may appear as though it's moving, but that's just because of the weather creating a seiche in the water; essentially, the wind is causing the water levels to rise and fall.
The second-biggest change in the operation to save The Sullivans is how divers are handling the contaminants coming from the ship.
2 On Your Side was told those include diesel and lube oil that have been with The Sullivans since it was in operation, so what divers are trying to do is remove water from the ship now, without leaving those pollutants in the Buffalo River, that would later end up in the lake.
They are then putting the diesel and oil in tanks to be disposed of properly.
