Seal Bite Leaves Rescuer Needing Stitches

Seal Bite Leaves Rescuer Needing Stitches

There is no instruction manual, there is no "Seal Rescue For Dummies". The OCN team have to adapt their strategy while they are busy with the animal, and sometimes unfortunately they get injured. During this rescue we learned that strong seal bulls can very well bite through the net and they had to adapt their strategy for future rescues. Antoine got bitten in his wrist, the wrist guards protected him from the worst, but Katja took him to the hospital for a proper check up and stitches anyways. The wound has healed properly since the incident, and the team was reminded once again that wild animals are unpredictable. For Antoine, only one thing mattered: the rescue was successful and the gill net was removed from this seal bull.
