La Palma volcano: Cones continue to collapse, triggering landslides of lava

Cones of the Cumbre Vieja volcano continued to collapse on Wednesday, causing lava overflows and landslides down the mountain in La Palma, Spain.

This footage by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute shows yet another cone collapse, which follows others earlier that week.

Stunning drone footage also showed close-ups of the volcano spewing black smoke and red-hot lava as the eruption is in its second month.

The volcanic activity intensified this week with local media reporting over 30 quakes registered by Tuesday.
