Facebook has agreed to pay over 14 million U.S. dollars to settle claims that it refused to hire local U.S. workers, and instead set aside positions for temporary visa holders.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Tuesday that the social media giant will pay 4-point-7-5 million dollars to the government and 9-point-5 million to the victims of the company's discrimination.
It said Facebook failed to make some 2-thousand 6-hundred jobs available to U.S. workers and instead saved these positions for foreign workers with temporary H-1B visas.
Tuesday's settlement is the largest ever collected as a violation of the United States' anti-discrimination provision in the Immigration and Nationality Act.
