Creature features have always been a genre that horror fans have adored and have lapped up whenever presented to them. This has especially worked for alien-like creatures that are gross, slimy and above all, deadly. And the movie that we are going to talk about today has a creature who is all of these things and more. ‘Deep Rising’ is a creature feature that was released in the year 1998. The movie most notably stars Famke Janssen, Treat Williams and Anthony Herald. This action-horror movie was directed by Stephen Sommers and follows a well-equipped crew of thieves as they make their way to rob a luxurious ocean liner but are instead brought face to face with a gigantic, man-eating sea monster.
Sommers is known for action movies full of twists and turns such as ‘Catch Me If You Can' (1989) and also ‘The Mummy’ (1999), along with having extensively worked for Disney. Other intense movies that he has been a part of are ‘Mummy Returns’ (2001) and ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’. Having had all of these movies under his belt makes it even more likely that ‘Deep Rising’ is definitely entertaining in the suspense and action department. Without further ado, let's dive right into the plot and see how many of the gang members and passengers make it out of this cruise ship of doom alive.
