The 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival has officially begun, and this year’s festival is more accessible than ever. Hundreds of performances are set to take place both in-person as well as digitally via livestream, and the Fringe team has partnered with Gather for a new virtual concierge service and community social hub- Digital Fringe Central.

“By partnering with Gather, Fringe has been able to create an in-person social experience online,” said Operations Director Lois Neville. “No zoom boxes or stale corporate meeting energy, this platform offers real interaction.”

Digital Fringe Central allows participants and audience joining digitally from around the world to receive concierge services virtually and interact with participants and other audience members, all from the comfort of their own homes. Gather is an interactive platform that goes above and beyond the digital experience so many have gotten used to during the pandemic, and Digital Fringe Central is no exception. The space features meet and greets, activities and concierge assistance, and hosted the Digital Opening Night party on Wednesday, August 11.

“Gather has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, Gather is a very intuitive platform!” said Fringe participant Kevin Douglas Neighbors. “It’s the closest virtual space I’ve experienced that feels like you are actually meeting and mingling. The Gather Fringe Central has been a highlight of my summer, I look forward to it. Every week.”

Digital Fringe Central powered by Gather is open Wednesday-Sunday from 6-10 pm PT throughout the festival, and can be accessed here: https://grape.link/Hollywood

In addition to the festival function and social element this space provides, the digital Fringe Central offers many a visual throwback to spaces of years gone by, a sort of love letter to the physical social hubs that have played a crucial role in The Hollywood Fringe’s growing community over the years. Designer Corwin Evans has been involved since the first year of the Fringe and it shows in the visual concept and community function of Fringe Central.
