Diane Phelan, Product Manager for the STONETECH® Surface Care and Maintenance line discusses how you can protect natural stone countertops from stains using a stone sealer called STONETECH® BulletProof® Sealer.
It can be used to protect interior and exterior countertops, backsplashes, walls and floors from staining. It protects porous, natural stone, masonry and grout surfaces from oil and water-based stains. It's a water-based formula that is safe for use in and around your home especially compared to solvent-based formulas.
1. Clean the surface so it's free from waxes or coatings
2. Mask off surfaces that will not be treated
3. Apply an even coat of stone sealer to the surface with a paint brush, low nap roller, paint pad or low pressure sprayer
4. Work in small sections
5. Let it penetrate for 10-15 minutes (add more stone sealer as needed)
6. Wipe the surface dry and clean
7. For more porous stone, apply a second coat of stone sealer as needed (30-40 minutes after the first application)
8. Your stone can be used in just 6-8 hours
9. The natural stone surface will be fully cured and protected after 24-72 hours
Then for routine maintenance, choose a neutral PH cleaner such as STONETECH® Stone & Tile Cleaner or STONETECH® Revitalizer® Cleaner & Protector.
